Mamerto Arcala's Migration to America
My father's father was Mamerto Agan Arcala. He arrived in the United States via the S.S. President McKinley to the port at Seattle, Washington, USA from a port in Manila, Philippines. The document erroneously spells his name as Momerto Arcola and also mis-dates his birthday as April 6, 1908. His actual birthday was May 10, 1908. He was 18 years old on arrival, on May 11, 1926, meaning he was still 17 when he boarded ship. He stayed at the Tacoma Hotel in Tacoma, Washington with his brother Hilarion Arcala, whom was later known as Pedro "Pete" Arcala.
